Description of Rick

In the bedroom, we had been looking for a bookshelf for some time. After gathering some inspiration, we decided on a slightly recessed bookshelf on the windowsill. This way, the space is optimally utilized. The lower part is slightly higher, so it can be used for decoration. The other shelves are equipped with partitions to give the whole structure a clear organization, ensuring that the arrangement of books provides a calm, structured appearance. The bookshelf is finished in the color of the walls.

How I Made This Project

I purchased the necessary sheet material through OPMAATZAGEN.nl. I chose 30 mm primed MDF to reduce the time spent on painting. After positioning the sides and top in place, I started assembling from the bottom up. First, a partition, then a shelf, two partitions, another shelf, and so on until the shelf was complete. I used the WOLFCRAFT Drilling Set for concealed wood screw joints. I always find that this gives a nice result. I pre-drilled the partitions and secured them with concealed screws. To be sure, I attached the shelf to the wall with an additional strip using recessed wall plugs. I chose not to include a back panel. For the finishing touches, I caulked around the shelf where it meets the frame, wall, and ceiling. I pre-treated the edges with Avis Edge Sealer. Thanks to the primed boards and the use of Avis Edge Sealer, the project was completed with two coats of paint.

Dimensions of My DIY Project

The dimensions are: Width l 1235 mm, Height l 1560 mm, Depth l 200 mm, Height of partitions l 2700 mm (except for the lower one, which is 3300 mm).
