Description of Harrie

Preparation: To begin with, a detailed 3D model of the space and the wardrobe design was created. With a clear image of the final result, all necessary components were custom ordered via OPMAATZAGEN.nl. Then, the existing, old IKEA wardrobe was dismantled and cut at an angle so that it perfectly fits under the sloping wall. Additionally, an old MDF wardrobe was dismantled, and its panels were reused for the back wall of the new wardrobe. Wardrobe Construction: The first part of the construction involves assembling the middle section of the wardrobe that forms the back wall of the bed. The necessary electrical work is also prepared during this stage. Next, the construction of the IKEA wardrobes on the left and right sides is completed and pushed completely against the wall. Upper cabinets are installed above the back wall for additional storage space. For a neat finish, the framing is cut to size and installed. As the final step of the construction, the wardrobe doors are installed. Finishing: The cut parts are coated with wood glue to reduce absorbency and achieve a smoother finish. The entire wardrobe is then sanded and painted in three coats using Histor mix paint. The solid oak slats, sourced from an old oak floor, are treated with OSMO oil and then glued to the back wall using assembly adhesive. The wardrobe doors are hung, and lights are installed. The switchgear is from Busch-Jaeger. Finally, custom-made nightstands are placed to complete the setup. Reused Materials and Construction: The MDF panels from the old wardrobe, solid oak slats from an old oak floor, and the layout of the old IKEA PAX wardrobe are all reused in this project. The beams supporting the construction are also reused. The result is a beautiful, functional wardrobe that stands free and is not attached to the wall, floor, or ceiling.
