Step by step guide

Preparation

I bought the Besta cabinets and door hinges at Ikea. Once assembled and attached together, I measured the dimensions of the needed top and side panels. I used Ikea's measurements for their doors. I ordered 2 thin MDF panels for the top panel (2 pieces because the cabinet is long), 2 thin MDF panels for the side panels and 10, 1.8 cm thick MDF boards for the doors. The original plan was for the cabinet to have 5 doors, but I wanted 10 doors, with each cabinet having its own set of double doors. I achieved this size by cutting the width of an Ikea Besta door in half.

Montage

Once the MDF pieces were delivered, I sealed them with clear matte polyurethane to protect them. I gave each piece 3 coats and sanded in between to remove imperfections. The top and side panels were easily attached to the cabinet with nails. For the doors, I bought a Kreg pocket hole jig to drill the hinge holes normally found on Ikea doors. I attached the hinges to the doors, and then I was able to attach the doors to the cabinet.
