Step by step guide
Preparation
Make a drawing sketch with the correct dimensions. Which surfaces do you want to have visible and which not. Will the flap be in the opening or on the opening. Which type of wood and thickness do you want to work with? 18 mm MDF.
Montage
Determine the strength of the design and the application for which you want to use it and adjust the type and number of screws accordingly. Pre-drill holes and possibly countersink them to prevent splitting. Do not save on good screws and type of wood, you will regret it. Cheap is usually expensive. Pay close attention to which hinges you want to use and how much kg they can handle if the cabinet has an upward opening flap.
Finish
- Sand everything well and put it in the primer. I have primed MDF twice because of the high absorbency of the material. I have applied the lacquer myself to the color of the cabinet it is on with a brush and roller.
- Finishing the hinges and handle. Pay close attention when placing and aligning the hinge where you want it and at what distance. In this case it is a flap cabinet with a flap on the day with a total offset of 1 cm, 5 mm bordered. This gives more depth effect and looks more graceful/playful.
