Pimp your existing TV cabinet with a custom-made custom cabinet by Femke

Femke made a cabinet with compartments on an existing TV cabinet. For this she ordered MDF 16mm to size and installed it herself. The shelving unit turned out excellently and fits well with the accessories.

Description of Femke

To give the living room some more depth, we made a shelving unit on our existing TV cabinet . By painting it in the same color as the wall and furniture, it forms a unity and the items in the cupboard itself especially stand out. The job was made easy for us by ordering all the sawn wood online.

How I made this project

Step 1) First think about what items you want to put in the cupboard for determination of the size
Step 2) determine height and width in relation to your cupboard. Tip: if necessary, stick painter's tape on the wall and cupboard with those dimensions to see if you like it
Step 3) then make several sketches with boxes and think about what you want to put where
Step 4) order the wood if the design is to your liking. Top panel is mitered with side planks. Keep a few mm spelling with height due to the tilting cupboard and the fact that the ceiling is not straight.
Step 5) we deepened all connections in terms of screws and then sealed them.
Step 6) sanding and painting
Step 7) done!
