What is the TOSIZE Furniture Concept?
When developing the TOSIZE furniture concept, we wanted to get one thing absolutely right: providing a custom-made cabinet that anyone, even without DIY experience, could assemble themselves. And we succeeded! We often hear that assembling a TOSIZE cabinet is easier than putting together an IKEA cabinet. A great compliment for us, of course.
Of course, both we—and you(!)—sometimes have different needs beyond the standard. And that brings us to that empty corner in the house. Because like any concept, there are both advantages and limitations. To create a corner cabinet, you’ll need to think a bit further. But don’t worry—we’re here to help!
Simply placing two cabinets together in a corner is too easy. We understand that. This can result in an empty, unused corner or one that is harder to access. So, you’ll need to decide what works best for you.
Tip! You’ll also discover that no floor or wall is perfectly level. So, when placing two cabinets in a corner, leveling feet are a must. Be sure to check that option!
The empty corner solution
Corners aligned equally
Choosing an empty corner setup is the quickest solution. You simply order two cabinets and place them with their front edges touching. For the best look, ensure that the shelves align at the same height so they create a seamless transition around the corner. Ideally, use reinforcement brackets in the inner corner to keep the cabinets perfectly aligned, and seal the seam before painting.
Integrated effect
It can look great to set one of the cabinets slightly further back. This creates a sleeker corner. You do this by positioning one cabinet back by the thickness of a side panel. Again, using reinforcement brackets is the best approach.
Two cabinets, one extending into the corner
Another method is to position part of one cabinet fully into the corner. This eliminates dead space, giving you extra storage. However, this space will be harder to access.
When using doors in a combined corner cabinet, make sure the door panel is placed far enough forward. Also, note that the space in the corner next to the door will no longer be accessible.
Narrow cabinet as a corner piece
Another practical option is to use a narrow cabinet as a corner piece. Again, ensure that the front edges align. You will lose some space in the corners, but visually, it will look like a large corner cabinet. You can use 45-degree angle brackets or bend them yourself.
A creative corner solution with TOSIZE Furniture
As you can see, there are multiple ways to create a corner cabinet using the TOSIZE Furniture concept.
Besides the standard concept, there is also the option to order extra panels of the same material and thickness as the cabinet. For this, we rely on your own experience and creativity.
