Trespa® Izeon®: what is it?
Trespa sheets are scratch and impact resistant and protected against sunlight and moisture. Ideal for outdoor applications. The lifespan of Trespa sheets is 30 years and requires almost no maintenance. The sheets are made by impregnating a core layer of paper and wood fibres with phenolic resin and pressing them together under high pressure and temperature. This core layer is then provided with a protective plastic top layer at the top and bottom. The core of Trespa® consists of a dark layer, the top layers are finished with a specific (RAL) colour.
Available thicknesses of Trespa® Izeon® black
Trespa black has a standard thickness of 6 mm.
Machining Trespa® Izeon®
Trespa® is somewhat more difficult to machine than the average wooden sheet materials. We strongly advise against sawing Trespa® with a handsaw. It is best to work with a jigsaw or circular saw. That's why it's extra handy that we accurately cut it to size for you! Trespa® can be fixed with special Trespa® screws or with glue, such as panel tack. When bonding Trespa®, sanding and pre-treatment with primer for panel tack is required.
Specific applications of Trespa® Izeon®
Trespa can be used indoors as well as outdoors, perfect if you need a sheet that has to be weather resistant. Examples are: fascias, facade panels and verges. It is only suitable for decorative applications.
Alternatives to Trespa® Izeon®
Is Trespa® not the right panel material? For panel material suitable for structural purposes, multiplex okoumé is the better choice. Another easy to apply outdoor panel material is MDF tricoya. Or check out the other available Trespa® panels:
